Instructional Leadership Program
LCEEQ-SWLSBWelcome!
Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board is committed to promoting instructional leadership among our Principals and Vice principals as a means of supporting instructional practices in our schools, fostering student achievement, and centering learning in our schools’ cultures. The Pedagogical Services Department has led professional development initiatives both within our school board and with our English education partners. In this era of online learning, where the quality and accessibility of eLearning offers significant benefits to our ever-busy school leaders, we are transitioning some of our in-person professional development opportunities to an online mode; a model that affords us a sustainable solution in an ever changing landscape. This program consists of four research-based modules designed to offer our instructional leaders up-to-date education and leadership best practices:
Module 1:: High-Leverage Teaching Practices
Module 2: : Teacher Observation and Feedback
Module 3: Motivating Teachers to Improve Instruction
Module 4: : Scaling Teacher Observation and Feedback for School-wide Impact
Each module is instructed by Dr. Megan Webster through texts, videos, reflection activities and group activities where you will be able to learn alongside your peers. In developing this program, we collaborated with multiple committees of principals, vice principals and school board leaders to better understand your needs, learning preferences, and goals. Our board has its own unique challenges and opportunities so we wanted this program to feel like it is for us. You’ll notice nearly all examples, stories, people, and schools featured in the program are from right here in our school board.
At SWLSB, we believe our students deserve our complete commitment to their success and we know how important our school leaders are to delivering on this promise. While you take advantage of this investment in you and your practice, know that we support your continued success as an instructional leader. Improving the quality of instruction in your school will have a positive impact on student achievement and school culture: no matter how good it was to start.
